Retirement Kickstart Plan

The Retirement Kickstart Plan was developed to help churches and ministers partner together to plan for retirement. The plan requires involvement from three key stakeholders: you, your church, and the CLSE. Here’s a breakdown of what is expected from each:

Minister

  • Apply to CLSE.
  • Open an MBA account.
  • Complete Crown Financial Course.
  • Start $50 per month retirement contribution to MBA.

Church

  • Adopt a retirement contribution policy for their ministers.
  • Start $100 per month retirement contribution to MBA for the minister

CLSE

  • Pay for Crown Financial Course.
  • Start $100 per month retirement contribution to MBA for the minister for 12 months.
  • Make an additional one time $300 contribution when Crown Course is completed.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Credentials in active standing with the Assemblies of God
  • You do not have an MBA retirement account, or
  • You have not made regular contributions to an MBA retirement account in past 12 months.

If you do not qualify for our Retirement Kickstart Plan, please complete the application as we may have retirement grants available in the future.

Medical Matching Grant

The CLSE is committed to reducing the economic and financial challenges that impact so many of our AG ministers, and we are aware that medical bills can be a significant contributor to those financial challenges. Through the generosity of a Lilly Endowment Grant as well as the contributions of our faithful donors, we are pleased to partner with you by paying one half of your medical bill(s) up to $1,500.

For our matching requirements, you will be responsible to pay the remaining balance on the bills. We will count any personal medical payments you have made in the past six months toward your portion of the match.

Upon approval the grant will be paid directly to the applicant. Please note that we are required by the IRS to make this grant taxable, and grant awardees will receive an IRS Form 1099-Misc from the General Council of the Assemblies of God at the beginning of the following tax year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Credentials in active standing with the Assemblies of God
  • A current medical bill(s) up to $3,000 and less than a year old.

Applicants can only apply for either the retirement or medical grant. However, grant awardees of the medical or retirement grants are still eligible for a student loan grant.
